25th Sunday in Ordinary Time year I 2014
Theme: Engaging Compassion
21st
September 2014
I Reading Is 55:6-9 God forgives
II Reading Phil 1:20-24a, 27 Paul’s life is centered on
Christ.
Gospel 20:1-16a engaged to be true serve.
When I realize I am God’s creature, my life becomes a
joyful engagement to my duty.
I will do the work I am involved in joyfully.
My interaction with others will be sensitive.
The ‘Our Father’, I pray, is a symbol of engaging
compassion in action.
Duetro-Isaiah is a symbol of God’s compassionate love
in action.
His engagement with the creation is pictured in a vivid
fashion.
The Gospel of this Sunday is oft heard story of a generous
Landlord.
Here in this parable, Jesus compares to the world and
its inhabitants to a vineyard and employment there at various period of time..
I see people live here in various times.
They are exposed to the various types of people.
But once I
realize that am special called to the grace of heaven.
Called specially to be light.
Called specially to be the truth.
Called specially to be the way.
Called specially to be the joy.
Called specially to be the compassion.
The whole of today’s liturgy empowers me to bring forth
the love of God in action.
I have been entrusted with so many good things of this
world.
The nature God has given me to empower me to be his.
He has placed me on the top of this nature to be able
to enjoy the good things of this life.
But often my greed makes me to misuse the goodness and
destroy nature.
Today when Jesus speaks through the parable asking me
to work there.
I see around me how people go from one country to the
other in search of better prospect.
Often they loose their born culture, language, and
other social activities.
They have to adjust and live in different situation.
This brings lots of challenges that one has to face.
In the whole liturgy God through Jesus is instructing
us to be ready and willing to be taught by his goodness.
This goodness is always accompanying us to be his.
His compassion will enfold us and allow us to be
relevant to the needs of the time.
Let us enjoy the God given opportunity and live our
lives doing our bit to bring about the salvation of the Lord for all.
Wishing all of you a wonderful Sunday
Yours ever in the divine word,
Fr. Juze Vas svd
