26TH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME YEAR I THEME OWNING DECISION

26th Sunday in the Ordinary Time Year I Theme: owning my decision 28-09-2014
I Reading Ez 18:25-28  Owning responsibly
II Reading Phil 2:1-11 Living uprightly with single mindedness.
Gospel Mt. 21:28-32 Parable of two sons.
I choose, make decisions and options all through the day.
Don’t I promise to do favor to some one and then forget all about it?
At the end of the day I reflect.
I find some decisions were good some not so good.
I have, to own the decision entered upon.
Promises I made.
This Sunday the universal church gives the faithful an option to think about the various decisions they make.
The first reading deals with the good as well as bad people.
There seems to be an argument which the Prophet is using to teach some value to the hearer of the word.
That is how a prophet uses real issues to instruct me.
When I  hear the short reading I  will find myself in the same place as the prophet places all.
In the second reading the Philippians are taught by Paul to respect what Jesus has achieved to save them all.
HUMILTY.
Jesus by his nature as God he could have been a great person.
He willingly chose to be humble and being humble he became great.
So greatness depends on our being humble.
What is our attitude all through the days we live our lives?
We have much opportunity to bear authentic witness to the truth we have experienced.
But we loose many chances because of our lack of discerning spirit
Today Paul is trying to teach us to be totally in communion with the Divine Spirit to do the right thing at the right time.
In the Gospel Jesus is trying to teach us beautifully by the story of two sons.
One is extrovert
The other introvert.
The extrovert accepts, the invitation of the Father to do the work at once but does not do the work.
The introvert refuses, but after a certain deliberation changes his mind and goes and does the work.
In comparison the real responsible person seems to be the one who refuses and eventually does the task.
The person who promises to do but does not do the task is a cheater.
We often fall in the category of the first person.
I externally try to be honest, hardworking, reliable, devoted, devout and trustworthy.
To the point of fact I am dishonest, lazy, unreliable, evil, harsh, and untrustworthy.
I reflect to find ourselves in that category?
Do we have to courage to reconcile?
The gospel challenges me personally today.
I commit many faults all through the day.
Today’s gospel shows how this happens.
Do I ever get converted?
How often do I reflect, what God wants me to be???
There are areas where I fail.
When I reflect I own this failure.
When I do so my humility shines forth and God’s grace enters into my life.
And this will enable me, be to be happy and contented.
No guilt will ever prevent me from owning any fault whatever be the immensity of it.
This will make me responsible in the world where I live.
Today God is inviting me to be a prophet.
And prophetic life of a Christian is a challenge in today’s world.
When I show to people what faith for me is?
Then I become a person who has been rewarded the gift of faith.
This enables me to bring other people to God, through Jesus in the Spirit.
Then my attending Eucharist and participating in the religious activities will bear fruit.
Come let me be responsible Christian,
In union with the divine word.

25th Sunday in Ordinary time Year I 2014 EGAGING COMPASSION

25th Sunday in Ordinary Time  year I 2014
Theme: Engaging Compassion
21st  September 2014
I Reading Is 55:6-9 God forgives
II Reading Phil 1:20-24a, 27 Paul’s life is centered on Christ.
Gospel 20:1-16a engaged to be true serve.
When I realize I am God’s creature, my life becomes a joyful engagement to my duty.
I will do the work I am involved in joyfully.
My interaction with others will be sensitive.
The ‘Our Father’, I pray, is a symbol of engaging compassion in action.
Duetro-Isaiah is a symbol of God’s compassionate love in action.
His engagement with the creation is pictured in a vivid fashion.
St. Paul in the letter to the Philippians explains the reason for his life which is centered around Jesus his Master.
The Gospel of this Sunday is oft heard story of a generous Landlord.
Here in this parable, Jesus compares to the world and its inhabitants to a vineyard and employment there at various period of time..
I see people live here in various times.
They are exposed to the various types of people.
But once I  realize that am special called to the grace of heaven.
Called specially to be light.
Called specially to be the truth.
Called specially to be the way.
Called specially to be the joy.
Called specially to be the compassion.
The whole of today’s liturgy empowers me to bring forth the love of God in action.
I have been entrusted with so many good things of this world.
The nature God has given me to empower me to be his.
He has placed me on the top of this nature to be able to enjoy the good things of this life.
But often my greed makes me to misuse the goodness and destroy nature.
Today when Jesus speaks through the parable asking me to work there.
I see around me how people go from one country to the other in search of better prospect.
Often they loose their born culture, language, and other social activities.
They have to adjust and live in different situation.
This brings lots of challenges that one has to face.
In the whole liturgy God through Jesus is instructing us to be ready and willing to be taught by his goodness.
This goodness is always accompanying us to be his.
His compassion will enfold us and allow us to be relevant to the needs of the time.
Let us enjoy the God given opportunity and live our lives doing our bit to bring about the salvation of the Lord for all.
Wishing all of you a wonderful Sunday
Yours ever in the divine word,
